How we check and maintain our guidance
You should be able to see where a care-funding explanation comes from, which country it covers and where its limits are.
Responsibility and authorship
Ben Slater is responsible for Care Savings. He is a social worker and created this independent website. Guides are published under the Care Savings editorial team byline. That byline identifies the publisher; it does not mean that several people or an independent professional panel have reviewed an article.
Our evidence standard
We use legislation and current government or NHS guidance for material funding claims. We distinguish England from Wales, residential from non-residential care, the relevant financial year and a private care quote from a council-agreed package. The source register records the pages checked, their scope and important caveats.
Automated tools assist with drafting, source comparison and technical checks. An automated source check is recorded as such. It is not labelled a human review, legal opinion or professional certification. No completed independent professional review is currently recorded for this replacement website.
Dates that mean different things
An article's publication and update dates come from its published history. A separate source-check date tells you when the listed evidence was retrieved and compared. A new source-check date does not mean that every rule has changed, or that a professional has signed the page off.
What happens when something changes
Changed or contradictory source facts need investigation before affected guidance is republished. We retain the original page address and content history, check for duplicate or overlapping guides, and keep source checks separate from publishing authority. We do not publish more pages merely to fill a schedule.
Examples and calculator results
Worked examples are fictional planning illustrations. They are not client stories, council awards or predictions of benefit entitlement. The calculator uses the figures supplied and displays uncertainty where a property or allowance decision is unresolved. Its methodology explains the assumptions.
Corrections and feedback
Email nellie@nelliesupports.com, marked for Ben Slater, with the affected page, the specific point and an official source if available. Please do not include bank statements, care records or another person's private information. This is a feedback route, not a funding application.
For help with a particular care charge, ask the council for its written assessment and explanation. If you disagree, ask about its review or complaints process. The site cannot decide the outcome.
